This three-day corporate workshop is designed for product managers who need to establish credible product leadership through a deep understanding about the business of the product, across the entire life cycle. Managing and Implementing Product Management Workshop

Our 2-Day Managing Product Management Workshop is designed to help leaders of product organizations and/or managers of product managers enable their teams with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to be successful.  

Participants work on mini-projects throughout the program that focus on:

  • Cross-functional leadership alignment
  • Key practices, including data, processes, and metrics
  • Product manager skill and competency development
  • Organizational enablement and support

While providing participating teams with a view of the building blocks of the product management framework, the main goal is for the teams to produce a strategic organizational action plan to fortify and improve the structure and function of product management, and to learn how to cultivate the talent pool of product managers.

PRODUCT STRATEGY AND ROADMAPPING

Our 2-Day Product Strategy and Roadmapping workshop is the perfect vehicle to transform how product strategies and roadmaps are formulated. While academic approaches focus on corporate or business strategies, this program is different. It is intended to create a repeatable methodology in which designated cross-functional product teams tackle each business building block – from the evaluation of customers, markets, and financial results, to the determination of a product vision and ultimately, future path and roadmap, paved with initiatives that can be implemented and monitored. Your teams benefit from our expert facilitation of the teams so they can steer the product’s business, and modify goals with an agile mindset, keep the business of the product moving at the speed of the market.

The program consists of a 2-day comprehensive workshop, and an optional 8-10 week work project in which participants are asked to develop strategic presentations for the actual products that they manage. Participants are primed before they arrive with information that will be used in the workshop. Once in the program, the workshop cadence mirrors the business case process as we work through each, present to one another, and facilitate the progress toward the completion an actual business case.

Product Life Cycle Optimization Workshop

Our 2-day Product Management Optimization Workshop provides a framework for product managers, product line managers, and other cross-functional team members to seek opportunities to fine-tune and optimize the performance of current products. In a nutshell, it’s about ROI for the product’s business.  In this workshop, participants will be able to map their product on a life-cycle curve and understand the constituent elements that contribute to that life cycle state.

Key benefits include:

  • Being able to pinpoint the product on a life cycle curve using key performance metrics
  • Examining the relationships between product profit, volumes, pricing, and other variables
  • Involving a cross-functional team in the optimization of the product’s business
  • Factoring in product discontinuation or market exit as options

A “retrospective” methodology allows for participants to examine variances from plan, seek root-causes, and to recommend corrective action. Participants create a product health report and a life-cycle state map, as well as an updated marketing mix model that emphasizes work needed to establish or maintain market leadership.

As an option, Sequent offers a full action-based project workshop.  This program consists of a 2-day comprehensive workshop described above, followed by an 8-10 week work project in which participants are asked to develop an accurate product health report and life cycle map for the product and product line (or the portfolio) and associated marketing mix plans for the actual products that they manage. The work projects are individually guided by one of our expert facilitators via online coaching sessions, and the program culminates in an onsite report-out of the completed projects.
